Writer’s Building

Writer’s Building was built in 1780 to house the attorneys and clerks of the East India Company. It then housed the Fort William College and then became an administrative headquarters. Today, it is the seat of the Secretariat of State. Its Corinthian-style façade was not added until 1889. Statues adorn the parapet of the roof.
