Prayagraj, known as ‘tirtharaj’, is situated on the banks of the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna & Saraswati. Every year, thousands gather at Prayagraj to take part in the Magh Mela festival, which is held on the western banks of the Ganga. The same festival is organized on a larger scale every twelfth year and is called the Kumbh Mela, where over 10 million Hindu pilgrims congregate — the largest gathering of human beings in the world. The tour commences from Varanasi (Kashi / Banaras) and ends at Prayagraj.

Day 1

Varanasi arrival + Ganga Aarti

On arrival at Varanasi, you will be received by Optima Travels’ representative. You will be transferred to Varanasi hotel. Relax and have rest. Early evening, you will be taken to attend Ganga Aarti ceremony, a religious ritual to offer gratitude to River Ganga which is worshipped as goddess by the Hindus since time immemorial. The daily spectacle of Ganga Aarti is mesmerizing and a large number of visitors gather at Dashashwamedh Ghat, the venue of the routine ceremony. The aarti is carried out by Brahmin priests, attired in traditional clothes. Vedic hymns and devotional songs are recited. Be a witness to ancient Indian traditions. After enjoying the surge of religiosity at ghats during Ganga Aarti, return to Varanasi hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2

Varanasi

Again, at the time of sunrise, you will be taken to banks of the Ganga to have a boat ride alongside the famous ghats in Varanasi. The morning in Varanasi will unfold numerous exotic aspects of India and more particularly Varanasi. The ghats are embankments, stone-built flights of steps on the western side of Ganga. These stone platforms are theater of various religious, cultural and leisure activities. The boat ride will end at Assi Ghat , the venue of Subah-e-Banaras. Enjoy the cultural fiesta.

Come back to hotel to relax and have breakfast in the hotel. Hereinafter, late noon, again proceed for visiting Ram Nagar Fort , Vyas Temple, BHU (Vishwanath Temple), Sankat Mochan Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple , Durga Temple & Bharat Mata Temple . The temples tour of Varanasi will be a city tour as well. The reason being, in order to see famous temples in Varanasi , you will have to meander through the whole city.

Having visited famous temples of Varanasi, return to hotel to spend evening in leisure and have overnight stay.

Day 3

Varanasi – Sarnath - Prayagraj

You will be taken in-time to Kashi Vishwanath temple to participate in Mangala Aarti or do Rudrabhishek puja. Mangala Aarti in Kashi Vishwanath Temple is carried out during ‘Brahm Muhurt’. The aarti takes place at 3 AM but a devotee /participant need to reach the temple about an hour prior to the ‘puja’. The ceremony can be attended only by booking a ticket. After attending Mangala Aarti, return to hotel to take rest. If you are willing for Rudrabhishek, it can be facilitated.

After attending the aarti or performing Rudrabhishek, return to hotel. Post breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed for visiting Sarnath. Sarnath and its historical remnants belong to Lord Buddha era. A visit of Sarnath, one the four pilgrimages of the Buddhist, will be a peep into great Indian civilization.

After visiting Sarnath, depart for Prayagraj. On arrival at Prayagraj, you will be transferred to pre-booked hotel for overnight stay.

Day 4

Prayagraj sightseeing – Railway station - Departure

Early in the morning, you will be taken to Triveni Sangam to have a holy dip. Triveni Sangam is the place in Prayagraj where Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati rivers meet. It is the place where Kumbh Mela is held every twelve years. Nearby is located Allahabad Fort, on the banks of River Yamuna. Within the fort’s compound lies Akshayavat and Patalpuri Temple.

After performing sacred rituals at Sangam, visit Bade Hanuman Ji Temple, adjacent to the fort. Hereinafter, return to hotel to refresh, relax and have breakfast. Check out from the hotel and proceed to Chandrashekhar Azad Park and pay your tributes to India’s famous revolutionary and freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad. Within the periphery of the park is a museum ( Allahabad Museum) too. You can visit that too if you have time and interest. In addition to them, visit some of the tourist attractions in Prayagraj like Bharadwaj Ashram , University of Allahabad and Anand Bhawan. You will be transferred in-time to Allahabad Railway Junction in Civil Lines.
