To Reach Jaisalmer by Air: Jaisalmer has appeared on India’s aviation map very recently in the year 2018. Jaisalmer airport is located about 17 kms away from the city center. Initially only SpiceJet was operating flights to & from the desert city, connecting it with only three cities of India – Jaipur, Udaipur & New Delhi. Gradually, several carriers have started flights to Jaisalmer from many other cities of India. Another option is to fly down to Jodhpur and then to get on a hired car, or a bus to Jaisalmer. Jodhpur is about 300 kms from Jaisalmer. Owing to its air connectivity, Jaisalmer is being preferred by international tourists as an extension to Golden Triangle Tour.

To Reach Jaisalmer by Train: The city is well connected to major parts of the country by rail with multiple options from cities like Delhi, Jaipur & Jodhpur to name a few. There are three trains on a daily basis between Jodhpur & Jaisalmer. From Delhi, there are four trains of which two are super fast and everyday. The ‘Delhi Jaisalmer Express’ from the capital to Jaisalmer takes typically 7-8 hours. If you’re looking for an off-beat train journey, there is Palace on Wheels, a luxury train which starts off at Delhi and travels to most cities in Rajasthan, including Jaisalmer. Once you’re at the station, there are autos & local taxis to take you around the city at nominal charges.

To Reach Jaisalmer by Road: Jaisalmer is well connected with all major cities of Rajasthan. Therefore, it can easily be reached by any of the surface transport means like car, taxi, cab, bus etc. There is a bus service everyday from Jodhpur. The journey takes about 7-8 hours. If one comes from Delhi, one would be required to break the journey at Jaipur and change buses as there aren’t any direct buses from the capital, because a 17-18 hour bus ride is a bit too exhausting. There are regular buses from Jaipur to Jaisalmer. There are plenty of car (cab / taxi) service companies that drive down to Jaisalmer. The cab services are charged on a per km basis. These services are available from Delhi as well.
