Day 1
Exploring Delhi’s historical heritage
As per your convenience and schedule, you will be picked up either from the airport or the place of your stay / hotel in Delhi and taken on a guided sightseeing tour of New Delhi, the capital city of India. Begin the journey with a visit to
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, one of Delhi’s most revered Sikh shrines. The peaceful ambiance, the golden dome and the holy Sarovar (water tank) create a divine atmosphere. Visitors can also partake in the Langar (community meal), experiencing Sikh hospitality firsthand.
Next, head to Red Fort , an architectural masterpiece built by Shah Jahan in 1648. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, constructed of red sandstone, was the main residence of the Mughal rulers. The fort's Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience) and Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience) give insight into the regal lifestyle of the Mughals. A short distance from Red Fort is
Jama Masjid , one of the largest mosques in India. Built in the 17th century by Shah Jahan, its grand courtyard can accommodate over 25,000 devotees. Visitors can climb the minarets to witness a stunning panoramic view of Old Delhi.
After visiting Jama Masjid, explore Chandni Chowk , one of Delhi’s oldest and busiest markets. Take a rickshaw ride through its narrow lanes, soaking in the sights of bustling shops, historic havelis, and the aroma of street food. Indulge in local delicacies like parathas at Paranthe Wali Gali or the famous jalebis.
Hereinafter, you will be taken to explore the central Delhi, popularly called as Lutyens' Delhi. This region is studded with British colonial era monuments like
India Gate , Parliament building and President House. Proceed towards India Gate, an imposing war memorial dedicated to soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War I. This 42-meter-high arch stands tall in the heart of Delhi and is a popular spot for visitors to relax and take photographs. Drive past the
Parliament House and Rashtrapati Bhavan ( President House ), marveling at their colonial-era architecture. These structures represent the administrative backbone of India and offer a glimpse into the country’s political and historical significance.
The last stop in Delhi is Akshardham Temple , an architectural marvel showcasing intricate carvings, stunning sculptures and spiritual teachings. The temple complex also features an enlightening water show and an exhibition on ancient Hindu culture.
After an enriching day in Delhi, embark on a journey to Agra , a city that houses some of the most iconic Mughal-era monuments. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel for an overnight stay, preparing for a magical experience at the Taj Mahal the next morning.
