Day 1

Arrival at Madurai & sightseeing

On arrival at Madurai, you will be received by our representative at Madurai airport / railway station in the morning and transferred to pre-booked hotel. Exploration of Madurai is interesting because of its geological stability, morphological complexity, anthropological diversity, socio-economic variety, cultural antiquity and historic continuity. Madurai is known to be preserving the continuity of certain cultural traditions from the time immemorial. Architectural and iconographic traditions in Madurai are traced back to more than 2000 years. Having relaxed for a while, proceed on a full day sightseeing tour of Madurai which includes proper ‘darshana’ & ‘puja’ in Shree Meenakshi Temple or Meenakshi Amman, Thirumalai Nayak Palace, Thiruparankundram Temple etc.

Dedicated to Lord Shiva & Parvati,Meenakshi Temple is one of the masterpieces of Dravidian style of temple architecture and famous all over the world for its ‘mandapam’ with thousand musical pillars. Within the temple complex is located Puthu Mandapam or Vasantha Mandapam, dedicated to Lord Sundereswarar. It was built by Thirumalai Nayakkar in early 17th century and is considered one of the oldest shopping arcades in the world. Once outside the majestic entrance gopurams of Meenakshi Temple, visit another example of the architectural mastery of the Nayaks - Thirumalai Nayak Palace . This is the palace or ‘mahal’ of Tirumala Nayak, a blend of Hindu and Saracenic architecture. Its curved dome, which soars without any visible support, is quite an accomplishment. The sound and light show here is also interesting which presents a glimpse into the bygone eras. Also visit, beautiful and rock-cut Thiruparankundram Temple, built in 6th century and dedicated to Lord Murugan. Spend the evening at leisure before returning to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2

Madurai – Rameshwaram - Sightseeing

After breakfast in Madurai hotel, depart for Rameshwaram, one of the pilgrimages and historical destinations in Tamil Nadu . Rameshwaram is situated on the shores of the sea and related with epic Ramayana. Rameshwaram is so intimately linked with the life of Rama that, to the Hindus, every grain of its sand is considered pious. After three hour long journey, reach Rameshwaram to check in at the hotel to relax for a while, before moving out for sightseeing. First visit Panchamukhi Hanuman Temple. The temple showcases floating stones those were employed by the associates of Rama to construct a bridge connecting Lanka with mainland. Also watch Pamban Bridge, India’s first sea bridge. Hereinafter, you will be taken to Dhanushkodi to explore beach and several ancient temples built in conventional Dravidian architectural style. In the evening, visit Ramanathaswamy Temple, built on the site where Rama worshipped Siva in order to do penance for having killed the ten- headed demon king of Lanka. The temple was built by a Lankan king at first and in due course many parts of the temple were built by Patitiyas, Satupathis, Nayakas, Natsukkottai chettiyars and other. Day 3

Rameshwaram - Kanyakumari

After breakfast, depart for Kanyakumari. On arrival, you will be directly transferred to pre-booked hotel to check-in. Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu is the land's end of India. From time immemorial, this place is considered to be one of the five sacred places (Panchanari Tirthas) of the Hindus. Goddess Kanyakumari is being worshipped from very early days even before the birth of Christ. The three Tamil kings, Chera, Chola and Pandya, worshipped Devi Kanyakumari. This is the only place from where one can see sun rise and sun set on full moon days. Having relaxed for a while, proceed on for sightseeing of Kanyakumari which includes visit to Kumari Amman Temple, Thiruvalluvar Statue and Swami Vivekanand Memorial. Kanyakumari is the place where one can see the confluence of three seas – Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean & Bay of Bengal. The Vivekananda Memorial, located at the heart of this confluence. Every day thousands of pilgrims from all over the world visit Kanyakumari temple. Spend the evening in leisurely exploration of the city walking through culturally vibrant markets. Overnight stay is scheduled in Kanyakumari hotel.

Day 4

Kanyakumari – Thiruvananthapuram - Departure

After breakfast in Kanyakumari, you will be driven to Thiruvananthapuram . On arrival at Trivendrum (Thiruvananthapuram), you will be transferred to Thiruvananthapuram railway station or airport.
