Pushkar is one of the holiest pilgrimages of the Hindus. A visit to Pushkar unfolds several aspects of Hindu culture, rituals, traditions and way of life. Day 1

Delhi arrival

Arrival at Delhi International Airport will be followed by traditional & personalized welcome by representative of Optima Travels. You will be handed over vouchers & bills, detailed about tour-outlines and transferred to New Delhi hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2

Delhi sightseeing

After breakfast, full-day guided sightseeing tour of Delhi commences. The first destination is Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, religious shrine of the Sikh people. The dome plated with gold, the gurudwara is highly auspicious and offers an insight into religious and cultural practices in Sikhism. ‘Langar’ (free kitchen) is certainly worth watching.

The next halt will be at old Delhi marked with ancient monuments, narrow streets and bustling bazaars. Watch the ramparts of Red Fort from outside. Visit Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, completed in 1658 by Shah Jahan who also built the Taj Mahal. Explore Chandani Chowk either on foot or manually-pulled rickshaw. It is the most famous market of "Old Delhi" where you will find lots of things ranging from saris to silver jewelry.

Raj Ghat, a sober memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, and Akshardham Temple are the next tourist attractions of Delhi to be visited. Akshardham is a marvelous piece of architecture.

In the afternoon, continue the visit of “New Delhi". You will be driven on the Rajpath, passage in front of the government buildings of the British era, designed by Lutyens, including the India Gate and the Presidential Palace. Then, advance to visit the imposing minaret of Qutub Minar. Overnight stay is scheduled in Delhi hotel.

Day 3

Delhi- Agra - Agra sightseeing tour

Drive to Agra after breakfast. On arrival at Agra, stop at tomb of It Mad ud Daula, popularly called Baby Taj. Agra tour guide will join you at tomb of It Mad-ud-Daula, a white marble mausoleum of Ghias Beg, father of the Mughal Empress Noor Jahan. It is said that Baby Taj was inspiration for Taj Mahal. Hereinafter, you are transferred to Agra hotel to check in, relax and further proceed on for visiting Agra Fort and enjoying sunset view of Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh across River Yamuna. Day 4

Agra- Fatehpur Sikri- Abhaneri village-Jaipur

Day 5

Jaipur sightseeing

The whole day is dedicated to the discovery of the pink city. In the morning, after breakfast, proceed on a guided sightseeing tour. First monument to be visited is Amber Fort. Amber Fort is located on hilltop. The hill is climbed on an elephant to reach the main gate of the fort. Visit Amber Fort built during eighteenth century. Amber Fort houses beautiful temples and palaces, namely Visit Jasha Mandir, Sish Mahal and Kali Temple. After visiting Amber Fort, return to the city center for lunch. On the way, stop in front of Jal Mahal for taking few photographs. After lunch, visit Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds). In the afternoon, visit Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory, and the imposing City Palace where the Maharaja still lives. Rooms display old objects and a collection of weapons belonging to the family. Later, browse the lively bazaars of Jaipur. There are traders, jewelers, weavers, dyers, sculptors, potters etc. After shopping in Jaipur, attend evening aarti in Govind Dev Ji Temple. Day 6

Jaipur- Pushkar - Jodhpur

After breakfast, drive towards Jodhpur, the Blue City of Rajasthan. On the way, stop at Pushkar, one of the holy Hindu pilgrimages. Mystical temples, economical accommodations, pilgrims and backpackers come together to form a strange universe in Pushkar. Enjoy watching all kinds onlookers flocking colorful & small shops lined on both sides of the streets. One can sit on a step and spend some time of the day watching this little world come to life! The site is superb! Pushkar is surrounded by high hills crowned with temples on one side, and seems to announce the desert on the other. The sacred Pushkar Lake is surrounded by a multitude of temples and ashrams. Brahma Temple is the most famous temple. All day, pujas are organized in the dark waters of the lake. One can go on a camel cart ride in the desert, climb the hills to reach perched temples that offer breathtaking views, or sip a lassi and witness moments of life that will remain forever in one’s memory.

Day 7

Jodhpur sightseeing

Jodhpur, second largest city of Rajasthan, will dazzle you. Do not hesitate to take the time to discover it. Guided sightseeing tour of Jodhpur is always spectacular. After breakfast, proceed on to explore the capital city of erstwhile Marwar region of Rajasthan. The most visited monument of Jodhpur is Mehrangarh Fort. The Mehrangarh , very majestic and imposing, seems to watch over the city since centuries. From the fort, the view is fascinating; the blue houses captivate the eyes while the sounds of the city seem far away. After visiting Mehrangarh Fort, you will be visiting the Clock Tower, the Jaswant Thada – the royal cenotaph memorial and other tourist spots. The heart of the old town is a chaotic labyrinth of medieval streets where it is good to get lost. The smells of jasmine, fries, tobacco, incense and sewage strike ones senses. Jodhpur - Jaisalmer

Having enjoyed scrumptious breakfast, depart for Jaisalmer. Standing in the middle of the Thar Desert , Jaisalmer appears like a mirage above the desert plains like a huge sandcastle . Around the city, some dunes and nomadic villages punctuate the desert landscape. When the sun rises, the Jaisalmer Fort wears an ocher color and, therefore, Jaisalmer is nicknamed the Golden City of Rajasthan. On arrival at Jaisalmer, check in at the hotel. Jaisalmer sightseeing

Major tourist attractions in Jaisalmer are Jaisalmer Fort (Sonar Qila or Golden Fort), historical mansions called havelis and desert safari. Visiting Jaisalmer is absolutely essential to enjoy walking in winding alleyways, settling in a cafe above the old city, meeting colorful people, climbing on the sand dunes etc. After breakfast, guided sightseeing of Jaisalmer, showcasing colorful heritage and aspects, will commence. Jaisalmer Fort is the most popular monument in Jaisalmer. The old city had flourished only within the ramparts of the fort. The Jaisalmer Fort has fascinated travelers forever. Its construction began in the 12th century. It was initiated by the founder Rawal Jaiswal. Fort Jaisalmer is surrounded by a hundred bastions that marry the walls of the hill on which it is perched. Now-a-days, a quarter of the population of Jaisalmer lives inside the fort. It is home to the Royal Palace (Raj Mahal), beautiful Jain and Hindu temples, and a host of shops and stalls of all kinds. Some charming hotels occupy the ramparts of the city.

Other prime attractions of Jaisalmer are the ancient mansions called haveli. Discover three absolutely splendid havelis of Jaisalmer. The first is Patwon Ki Haveli, probably the largest and most impressive. This is a set of five havelis commissioned by wealthy Jain merchant in 1800. Its construction lasted 55 years. The second is the Nathmal Ki Haveli, built in the 19th century and home to ministers and senior officials. The third is the Salim Singh Ki Haveli, built in 1815 by the prime minister of the kingdom. It has 38 balconies, all different. Its facade resembles the bow of a ship.

After discovering the city of Jaisalmer, go on a camel safari to explore the splendor of Thar Desert. Desert villages and sand dunes attract a large cache of visitors. Famous for their dunes, Khuri & Sam are small villages located about 50 km from Jaisalmer. The tourists reach here riding camels and stay overnight in luxurious tented accommodation. These sand dunes offer great view of sunset. The camps are equipped with all modern amenities and the evening is made memorable as cultural music and dance performances are conducted here.

Jaisalmer - Departure
