Day 2 :
Jaipur Sightseeing – Forts, Palaces, Temples and Bazaars
After a traditional Rajasthani breakfast, set out for a grand tour of Jaipur’s most iconic monuments—starting with its majestic hilltop fort, then journeying through temples, reservoirs, royal quarters and the famously vibrant markets. In the first half, you will be visiting Amber Fort, Jagat Shiromani Temple, Panna Meena Ka Kund and Jal Mahal (stop-over for photography).
A grand fortress-palace set atop rugged hills, Amber Fort reflects Rajput valour and opulence. With ramparts of pale sandstone and intricate mirror-work chambers like the Sheesh Mahal, its architectural elegance is matched only by its commanding views. Ride a bedecked elephant up its cobbled path for an unforgettable regal ascent.
Jagat Shiromani Temple , built in 16th century, honours Lord Krishna and Meera Bai. Built in pristine marble and locally quarried sandstone, its sanctum is surrounded by exquisite lattice windows, mythological carvings, and a spiritual calm. The temple’s delicate symmetry and historic grace create a sanctified oasis amid the echoes of antiquity.
A symmetrical stepwell from the 16th century, Panna Meena ka Kund is an architectural marvel of descending staircases and niches. Once a gathering place for social rituals and respite during hot summers, its geometric precision and photogenic beauty charm every visitor with an eye for symmetry and shadow.
Having seen the famous monuments in Amer, drive back to the city. On the way back, have a stop-over at Jal Mahal . Floating like a mirage on the still waters of Man Sagar Lake, Jal Mahal is a poetic blend of Mughal and Rajput design. Though not open to public interiors, its reflection on the lake at sunset—backed by the Aravallis—is a photographer’s delight and a vision of serene isolation.
Pause for lunch before continuing your exploration into the heart of Jaipur. Post-lunch, visit the three iconic monuments of the Pink City - City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal.
Once the seat of Maharaja rule, the City Palace is a complex of courtyards, gardens, and museums. Ornate gateways, royal costumes, miniature paintings, and weaponry reveal a rich tapestry of regal life. Its grandiose architecture marries Mughal intricacy with Rajput might in a rare confluence of power and aesthetics.
A UNESCO World Heritage site, Jantar Mantar is a vast open-air observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. Its colossal sundials and astronomical instruments—still accurate—testify to India’s scientific ingenuity. This stone poetry of time and celestial measurement remains a marvel of observational astronomy and mathematical precision.
The famed Palace of Winds, Hawa Mahal is an ornate, five-storey pink sandstone façade with 953 latticed windows. Conceived for royal women to observe street life unseen, its honeycomb design cools desert winds. A vision of whimsy and functionality, it exemplifies the dreamy grace of Rajputana architecture.
Thereafter, explore buzzing bazaars of Jaipur , the capital city of Rajasthan. A riot of colours, scents, and sounds, Jaipur’s old bazaars brim with hand-block textiles, blue pottery, lac bangles and antiques. Lose yourself in Johari Bazaar or Bapu Bazaar, where craftsmanship meets commerce under sun-baked awnings and tradition still speaks through every embroidered fabric and carved trinket.
In the evening, attend evening ‘aarti’ in Govind Dev Ji Temple. A sacred Vaishnavite temple enshrining Lord Krishna, Govind Dev Ji Temple comes alive during evening ‘aarti’. The rituals are fervent, the bells resounding, and the faithful thronging. The temple’s devotion-filled air, set amidst City Palace gardens, remains a spiritual anchor in the vibrant bustle of Jaipur life.
Late in the evening, return to hotel for overnight stay.
