Van Vihar National Park

A nice safari park, Van Vihar National Park, is a great natural habitat for wildlife watchers to view a variety of herbivorous and carnivorous species. Situated on the bank of Large Lake is a national park that has been a centre of attraction for locals and national tourists, for a long period. Widely spread unlimited water of the lake, circular roads, the murmuring of birds on the trees, cold air current, peaceful atmosphere and the closeness of the nature, give a deep satisfaction and happiness, in the core of the heart. In the whole country, Bhopal is the only city whose one part is a national park. There are two ways to enter Van Vihar. One is from the side of Bhadbhada and the other from the side of Bharat Bhawan. The entrance fees are different for the Indians and the foreigners. Entrance fee for Indian tourists is Rs 15 per person and for foreigners Rs 150 per person. Charge for mini bus is Rs 50, for full size bus Rs 300, for car/ Jeep Rs 30, auto rickshaw Rs 15, scooter/ motorcycle Rs 10, camera Rs 40 & Video camera Rs 300.

Spread over an area of 445 hectare, Van Vihar was an abandoned village in the past. In the earlier days, there were no other animals here than the wild pigs. All those wild animals which are present here now- a- days, have been brought from some other places. There are tigers, leopard, spotted deer, samber, white bear, nilgai, four horned antelopes, Chinkara, Black Buck, wild pig and crocodiles. Tourista are allowed in the national parks at define times. Park is open from morning 1st April to 31 September -7 AM and to 7 PM. 1st Oct to 31st March- 8 AM to 6 PM. Friday is the weekly holiday. On Hoil, Rang Panchami, Diwali, Dussehra, Id & Christmas, it remains closed.
