There is a history of about 200 years. It was built in 1794 by Chhote Khan, a former minister in the ministry of Nawab Hayat Mohammad Khan. There were several wells in this area which were the source of the water for agriculture and other works. All those wells got hidden when the lake was constructed. The total area of the lake is 7.99 sq kms. About one and a half decade earlier, the maximum depth of it was 11.7 meters and minimum was 6.1 metres. It is also called the Lower Lake and is located in southeast side of the Upper Lake.
