Hatheesing Jain temple, situated outside the Delhi Gate, is made of marble and has intricately carved pillars. Built in 1848 by Seth Hatheesing it is dedicated to Dharmnath, the 15th Jain Tirthankara. About two dozen marble figures of the Tirthankaras, the founding saints of Jainism, more or less identical, create a serene atmosphere. The Hatheesing Temple houses 52 shrines and 11 deities. In addition to religious pilgrimage, Hatheesing temple is visited by tourists of all faiths to behold its marvelous architecture. It is said that about one and a half century back, the temple construction cost 10 lac rupees. Built outside of Delhi Gate in 1850 by a rich Jain merchant, this is the best known among many Jain temples that adorn Ahmedabad.
