Day 1

Arrival in Srinagar and sightseeing

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir , is often referred to as the ‘Paradise on Earth’ and the ‘Venice of Asia.’ Enveloped by the towering Himalayas and adorned with serene lakes, Srinagar is a haven of tranquillity and charm. The city’s famed houseboats, the shimmering Dal Lake, and its Mughal gardens make it a destination of unparalleled beauty. Its rich heritage is evident in landmarks such as the Jama Masjid, a striking blend of Persian and indigenous architecture, and the revered Shankaracharya Temple, perched atop a hill with sweeping views of the valley. Traditional Kashmiri handicrafts, vibrant markets, and warm hospitality further enhance Srinagar’s allure. Despite its turbulent past, the city remains an enduring symbol of resilience and grace.

Upon arrival at Srinagar Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative of Optima Travels and escorted to your accommodation, whether it be a charming hotel or a traditional houseboat on Dal Lake. After relaxing a bit, set forth on an immersive exploration of Srinagar’s most iconic attractions. Begin with the enchanting Cheshmashahi, a Mughal garden famed for its natural spring, believed to possess medicinal properties. Continue to Nishat Bagh, a verdant expanse of tiered gardens, where cascading terraces and floral blooms offer a breathtaking panorama of Dal Lake and the Zabarwan Range. Next, visit Shalimar Bagh , the ‘Abode of Love,’ built by Emperor Jahangir for his beloved queen, an exquisite masterpiece of Mughal landscaping adorned with elegant pavilions and gushing fountains.

The journey then ascends to the Shankaracharya Temple , a revered Hindu shrine atop Shankaracharya Hill. From this vantage point, the sweeping view of Srinagar unfolds in a spectacular tapestry of lakes, gardens, and snow-capped peaks.

Day 2

Srinagar – Gulmarg – Srinagar (56 km one way / 2 hour)

Following a hearty breakfast, embark on a picturesque journey to Gulmarg, (derived from the word Gauri Marg – the path traversed by Goddess Parvati, also called Gauri) passing through Tangmarg and traversing lush apple, cherry, and strawberry orchards. This charming meadow, blanketed in a sea of green during summer and glistening under winter’s snow, is a paradise for nature lovers. A visit to Khilanmarg unveils breathtaking panoramas, while an exhilarating ride aboard the world’s highest cable car, the Gondola, presents an unrivalled aerial spectacle of the surrounding peaks. Alternatively, one may opt to indulge in a round of golf at one of the world’s loftiest courses. As twilight approaches, return to Srinagar for a peaceful night’s repose.

Day 3

Srinagar – Sonamarg – Srinagar (80 km one way / 3 hour)

After breakfast, embark on a journey to Sonamarg, the ‘Meadow of Gold,’ a name that befits its resplendent allure. En route, a visit to the revered Hazratbal Shrine and the quaint Gagangir Tourist Village offers a glimpse into Kashmir’s rich heritage. The drive itself is a visual symphony, as emerald-green paddy fields and meandering rivers compose a landscape of poetic beauty. Upon arrival, an excursion to Thajiwas Glacier, approximately 4 kilometres from Sonamarg, provides an opportunity to witness a pristine ice-laden wonderland. A local taxi shall be required for this venture. As the day draws to a close, journey back to Srinagar for a final night in the valley’s embrace.

Day 4

Srinagar – Pahalgam (100 km / 3 hour)

Post breakfast, set forth on an evocative drive towards Pahalgam, pausing en route to admire the historic ruins of Awantipora, an ancient temple complex resonant with the echoes of Kashmir’s bygone era. The journey continues through saffron fields, where the delicate blossoms lend the air a fragrant charm. Upon arrival in Pahalgam, a realm of unspoiled beauty, one may choose to explore the scenic splendour of Aru Valley and Betaab Valley (available at an additional cost), where rolling meadows and pine-clad slopes evoke a dreamlike serenity. As the sun retreats behind the hills, you will be transferred to pre-booked hotel in Pahalgam for overnight stay.

Day 5

Pahalgam - Srinagar

After a leisurely breakfast in your hotel, drive back to Srinagar. On arrival at Srinagar, check in at the hotel. Later, delight in a shikara ride across Dal Lake, where floating markets, lotus gardens, and reflections of the surrounding mountains create a scene of dreamlike serenity. As the day winds down, explore the vibrant local markets, where exquisite Pashmina shawls, handwoven carpets, and fragrant Kashmiri spices make for memorable souvenirs.

Cancellation Terms:

50% cancellation if cancelled within 45 days.
