3 Days Jodhpur Weekend Tour ensures a fair and fabulous introduction with the Blue City of Rajasthan, as Jodhpur is popularly called in tourism parlance. Jodhpur, once the capital of the State of Marwar, stands on a low sandstone hill right in the heart of the desert. It is surrounded by an immense wall almost six miles in circumference which separates it from the sands that stretch out on all sides over an area of some 35,000 square miles. A rocky eminence immediately behind dominates the scene and at its summit soars a massive fortress.
Jodhpur is home to several historical palaces, gardens, temples, museums, baoris, markets etc. It’s also renowned world over for its colourful culture. Rural women folk are a sight to watch. Even their everyday clothes are colourful, and they wear loads of intricately-made jewelry. During the early summer Gangaur festival their costumes are simply bewitching, and as they walk in groups and sing, the bells on their silver anklets tinkle as though to keep time with the singing. The most visited
tourist attractions in Jodhpur are Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum, Jaswant Thada, Clock Tower, Sadar Bazaar and Mandore Garden. Jodhpur is also known for the world-famous ‘jodhpuris’— trousers and riding breeches in one — which have immortalized in equestrian circles the name of this already illustrious city. Jodhpur Weekend Tour is a leisurely exploration.

Day 2 :
Jodhpur sightseeing
The sightseeing tour of Jodhpur will commence soon after the breakfast in the hotel. The first attraction to be visited is the
Mehrangarh Fort . Standing foursquare on the escarpments of a hill, the fort was well-nigh impregnable in days gone by. Mehrangarh Fort still remains a most imposing landmark and commands a panorama of the surrounding countryside for miles round. Its walls enclose a variety of buildings: palaces, barracks, temples and what not. Here are to be seen today a miscellany of weapons of all ages. The Victory Gate, leading up from the city to the fort, was erected by Maharaja Ajit Singh to commemorate his military successes over the Mughal at the beginning of the 18th century. Other gateways stand in honour of other victories — but this time of internecine warfare between the various Rajput princes themselves. On the walls of the final gate of entry are the palm marks of some widows who, ages ago, immolated themselves upon the pyres of their departed husbands. Delicately latticed windows and pierced screens worked in sandstone form the dominant motif within the rugged casket of the fort of Jodhpur. The palaces are exquisitely decorated. All this is concentrated in that relatively small area comprised within the medieval citadel. The city below has many more fine old buildings and temples.
After visiting Mehrangarh Fort, visit Jaswant Thada & Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum.
Jaswant Thada is a beautiful ‘chhatri’ (cenotaph) built of marble in 1899 AD in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh-II.
Umaid Bhawan Palace , converted into a museum and a luxury heritage hotel, is the newest palace in Rajasthan and was constructed to offer relief to the famine-stricken population of Jodhpur. Spend evening in leisure, exploring local vibrant and colorful market. Overnight stay is scheduled in Jodhpur hotel.
