Day 2 :
Full-Day Sightseeing Tour of Delhi
Post breakfast, the day unfolds with a spiritual visit to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib , a resplendent Sikh shrine known for its serene sanctum, sacred sarovar (pond), and the unifying spirit of the langar (community kitchen).
Next, you shall be transported back to the Mughal era as you visit the Red Fort (Lal Qila), built by Shah Jahan in 1648. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, made of red sandstone, stands as a monumental reminder of imperial glory and architectural finesse. A short drive brings you to Jama Masjid , India’s largest mosque, where bulbous domes and minarets frame a courtyard that can accommodate 25,000 worshippers. A delightful manual rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk follows—a chaotic, colourful bazaar first laid out by Shah Jahan. The aroma of street food, the sparkle of silver trinkets, and the rhythm of daily commerce present a sensory overload.
After lunch, proceed to the India Gate , an elegant war memorial arch designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, and view the majestic President’s House and Old Parliament House, stately symbols of British colonial architecture. In the late afternoon, delve into modern spirituality at Akshardham Temple, an intricately carved sandstone and marble edifice embodying traditional Indian culture, architecture, and values.
The day concludes with a visit to Qutub Minar , the tallest brick minaret in the world and a UNESCO-listed site, dating back to 1192 CE. Standing amidst the ruins of ancient mosques and tombs, it reflects the early Indo-Islamic architectural style. Return to your hotel for a well-earned rest.
